Ottawa StoryTellers is a registered charitable organization dedicated to the art of oral storytelling. For over 40 years, we have presented performances, workshops, and community events that celebrate storytelling in all its forms.
Our programming includes our Signature Series of curated live performances, our monthly (un)Told storytelling events, open mic programs, and the annual Children’s Storytelling Festival. Through this work, we support both emerging and established storytellers while creating meaningful connections between artists and audiences.

Position Overview
The Special Events Coordinator will support the planning and delivery of Ottawa StoryTellers’ summer programming. This role is ideal for someone interested in live events, arts administration, and community programming.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Business Manager and Artistic Director to coordinate logistics, support volunteers, and ensure events run smoothly from preparation through execution.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in coordinating live events including the Signature Series, (un)Told, and Open Mic programs
Support planning and early coordination for the Children’s Storytelling Festival
Coordinate event logistics including setup, load-in, and on-site organization
Assist with basic technical coordination (liaising with stage management and performers)
Recruit, schedule, and support volunteers for front-of-house roles
Support audience experience, including check-in, seating, and general event flow
Assist with post-event wrap-up and reporting
Qualifications
Interest in event planning, theatre, or arts administration
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
Strong communication skills and a professional, reliable approach
Ability to problem-solve in a live event environment
Previous volunteer or event experience is considered an asset
Working Conditions
Combination of remote work and in-person event support
Evening and weekend availability required for events
35 hours per week for 8 weeks

Position Overview
The Digital Marketing Coordinator will support Ottawa StoryTellers’ online presence and audience engagement across multiple platforms. This role is ideal for someone interested in arts marketing, content creation, and digital communications.
The successful candidate will help plan and execute marketing campaigns, create content, and support the promotion of current events and the upcoming 2026–2027 Signature Series.
Key Responsibilities
Create and schedule content for Instagram and Facebook
Assist in writing and building email newsletters using Mailchimp
Design basic promotional graphics for events and programs
Update website content as required (Squarespace)
Manage and update event listings on Eventbrite and Ticket Tailor
Support promotion of live and online events
Assist in developing marketing content for the 2026–2027 Signature Series
Contribute ideas to improve audience engagement and reach
Qualifications
Interest in marketing, communications, or the arts sector
Strong writing skills with attention to tone and clarity
Basic design skills (Canva or similar tools)
Familiarity with social media platforms and content scheduling
Comfortable learning new tools and platforms
Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks
Previous experience in digital marketing or content creation is an asset
Working Conditions
Primarily remote work with occasional in-person event attendance
Some evening or weekend work may be required

The Stage Manager will support the technical and production elements of Ottawa StoryTellers’ live events. This role is ideal for someone interested in live performance, theatre production, and working directly with performers.
The successful candidate will work closely with storytellers and the production team to ensure a smooth and professional presentation of all events.
Key Responsibilities
Operate basic audio equipment including microphones and PA systems
Coordinate simple lighting, projections, and video elements
Assist with rehearsals and support performers during preparation
Manage show flow, timing, and transitions during live events
Support setup and teardown of equipment at event venues
Troubleshoot minor technical issues during events
Work collaboratively with event and front-of-house teams
Qualifications
Interest in theatre production, live events, or technical direction
Basic familiarity with audio or lighting equipment is an asset
Strong attention to detail and ability to stay focused under pressure
Clear communication skills and ability to work with performers
Reliable, adaptable, and solution-oriented
Previous experience in theatre, events, or technical production is an asset
