Open Mic
Step Into the World of Storytelling at the Storytelling Open Mic!
Storytelling Open Mic is a welcoming space to discover and enjoy the art of storytelling, whether you're an experienced teller, just starting out, or simply love listening to a good story.
Our supportive atmosphere encourages beginning tellers to find their voice while giving experienced storytellers an opportunity to try new material or share favourite stories. From folk tales and historical accounts to personal experiences, fractured fairy tales, ballads, and original stories, there's something for everyone.
Stories are typically 5 to 10 minutes long, told without notes, from the heart of the teller to the hearts of the listeners.

Storytelling Open Mic Online – On Hiatus
Our Online Storytelling Open Mic is currently on hiatus as we take some time to reassess and refresh the program.
Due to ongoing technical challenges and declining participation, we've decided to pause the monthly online sessions while we explore new ways to create an engaging and accessible virtual storytelling experience.
We're looking for a new volunteer coordinator to help reimagine and relaunch our online storytelling program.
We're also interested in hearing from members of the storytelling community who have ideas, suggestions, or would like to help shape what comes next.
If you're interested in getting involved or have ideas to share, we'd love to hear from you!
Please contact us at ostbusiness@ottawastorytellers.ca.
In the meantime, we encourage everyone to join us at our monthly in-person Open Mic, and stay connected through our newsletter for updates on the future of online storytelling at Ottawa StoryTellers.
