(un)TOLD: STORIES THAT STAYED WITH US
Sunday April 26 at 2:00pm
This special edition of (un)Told brings together some of the most memorable stories from Ottawa StoryTellers’ monthly personal storytelling series. Over the past year, (un)Told has become a space for honest, funny, and deeply human stories shared by voices from across our community. This curated showcase highlights some of the best moments from the series.
Featured storytellers include Marissa Clemence with Ahead of Schedule, Marcel Georget with Runaway, Carmen Teeple Hopkins with 3rd Times the Charm, Trevor Eggleton with Raccoons, Patrick Holloway with Shane, and Ronnie Hoffman with Cycle of Revenge.
From laugh-out-loud encounters with raccoons to stories of resilience, reflection, and unexpected turns, this evening captures the spirit of (un)Told: real stories, told live, in a room full of people ready to listen.
One night only. Six unforgettable stories.
Meet the Tellers
Ahead of Schedule – Marissa Clemence
Marissa Clemence is a memorial artist, makeup artist, and budding storyteller who is mid transition between a 15-year career in film and television into creating commemorative art, storytelling and podcasting. Fascinated by storytelling since childhood—when a master storyteller left her in awe—she now weaves memory, grief, and lived experience into both her art and the stories she shares.
Runaway – Marcel Georget
Marcel Georget is a long-time Ottawa resident who, in retirement, discovered the power of the spoken word. His short stories, ranging from the lightheartedly amusing to the near-miraculous, are shared at (un)Told to do more than just entertain; they serve as a source of mutual empowerment for both the teller and listener.
Third Time’s A Charm – Carmen Teeple Hopkins
Carmen recently joined Ottawa Storytellers and she enjoys telling emotionally rooted stories with a hint of humour. Having worked as an Assistant Professor of Women and Gender Studies in a past life, telling stories is her preferred way to learn from, connect with and teach others. When she was younger, she dabbled in musical theatre and jazz dance. She is working on a series of personal stories on the theme of renewal.
Raccoons – Trevor Eggleton
Trevor Eggleton has worked in communications for over 20 years. Originally from BC Trevor spent much of his youth traveling before ending up in Ottawa with his two daughters.
Shane – Patrick Holloway
Pat, a retired teacher, has been a member of Ottawa StoryTellers since 1993 and is currently its Co-President. He is the editor of three books of children’s poetry and the writer of five murder mystery plays and nineteen historical shows that have been performed across the city since 1999.
Cycle of Revenge – Ronnie Hoffman
A linguist by training, interpreter by trade, and lover of all things Ottawa, Ronnie originally hails from Simcoe County, Ontario. He spends his free time doggedly trying one new thing every month, seeking out the perfect 50-50 blend of adventure and creature comforts, and doing his best to make his friends laugh.
The Cat Story – Shannon Clarke
Shannon is a poet, storyteller, and entrepreneur who adores nothing more than being in the backwoods paddling a canoe with her two kids, her dog, and her favourite adventure partner, Dan. As a military family, they have travelled across Canada, exploring as many national parks as they can and living a life full of fun, laughter, and the odd bit of mischief!
