Grassroots Community StoryTelling Event

OCTOBER 14, 2017

OST is having a big story get-together where we can reconnect with old friends and make new ones, listen to great stories, and have some fun. We’re hosting a daylong story fest in celebration of story and the storytelling community.

Where and When:
Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
at St Brigid’s Centre for the Arts, 310 St. Patrick Street, Ottawa (Not wheelchair accessible. There is a short flight of stairs.) in the Kildare Room
Brigid’s Well, the pub (beverages only) adjacent to the Kildare Room, will be open from 4 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.

$10 for 12 hours of stories, potluck dinner, and community time. For this grassroots event, everyone is volunteering her/his time, talents, and potluck contribution, and all participants will pay $10 toward the cost of renting the space.
In half-hour sessions through the day, we hope to cover the whole range of storytelling genres (with the occasional story game thrown in)
tall tales (possibly a competition?)
sung ballads
and other?
Lunch is BYO or explore the market’s great foodie spots
After the potluck dinner, there’ll be a short after-hours party with singing, jokes, and general merry-making
To top off this event, we’ll end with a special edition of (un) told, our fantastic personal story stage
Getting a spot as a teller:
It would be wonderful to hear as many different voices as possible. So that we can hear two tellers in each category, we are suggesting that stories be no longer than 15 minutes. To be considered for the line-up, please send a short proposal as described below. You can put in bids for several types of stories, but you will only be selected for one, so please list them in order of your preference.
