OTTAWA STORYTELLER'S

CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL

OST’s popular day of storytelling performances, workshops, and crafts for children will take place Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Nepean Centre Point Library

Starting at 9:30 with a workshop created and led by storyteller Marta Singh, OST’s day of storytelling has something for children ages 2 to 12.

Jacqui du Toit will regale little ears with tales of Wise Fools & Foolish Tricksters, while Tom Lips and Marie Bilodeau will open a storytelling window on the world of science fiction and fantasy. Bill Lalonde will take young imaginations around the world, and the folks of Shadow Puppet Theatre will weave special magic around such classic fairytales as Thumbilina, while Janet Le Roy and Kim Kilpatrick will take a walk on the wild side with Animals All Around Us.

Donna Stewart and Leah Sander will invite eager participants to join in stories that explore relationships, while the very young will be invited by Kathie Kompass and Ruth Stewart-Verger to participate in stories, chants and rhymes. Colette Laplante and Lynda Joyce will reveal creatures big and small, and how they interact in our world.

Telling in French, Claude Garneau, will take children into the world of Christmas, through the eyes of Celeste the firefly, and Princess Sophia the brave! Michel Farant will bring the world of long-ago folk tales to life as he tells of flying suitcases and special gifts discovered in a medieval world.

All these tales, and all these fabulous tellers will enchant and engage, as your child is immersed in stories that leap off the page through words that conjure dreams and open up imaginary worlds of wonders.

Parents may drop their children off for the duration of the morning workshop, however children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for all storytelling events.

Snacks will be provided. If your child has allergies, please bring their special snacks.

All events are free. Registration is required for the morning workshop. Contact Laurie Fyffe, OST Artistic Manager at info@ottawastorytellers.ca or call OST at (613) 322-8336.
