Story Yoga for Kids* – Tania Frechette

Tania Frechette’s passion for yoga began a decade ago. She is a trained yoga professional at the highest level (ERYT-500). Tania loves to teach people of all ages. Her approach to yoga is creative and fun. www.yogaland.ca

Yogini Went To Sea - Join a yogini for an adventure to the sea. We will transform ourselves into different sea creatures, have fun surfing big waves and row some boats.  (1pm to 1:30pm)

The Zoo - Let’s go to the zoo! Have fun with your animal friends. Jump like a monkey, roar like a lion, walk like heavy elephant, hiss like a snake and much more. (2:30pm to 3pm)

*Please bring a yoga mat or large towel.

Tell Me a Story – Kathy Jessup (1:30pm to 2:30pm)

Join Edmonton storyteller Kathy Jessup for a rollicking hour of original stories the whole family will enjoy. Hear original tales about a Princess who loves frogs, a fish that loves licorice, and one child's search for the perfect pet! http://kathyjessup.com/

A Kid’s Life – Sherri Yazdani (1:30pm to 2:30pm)

Stories about children, for children! Hear about the boy who never said please, a girl who came to Canada as a refugee and experienced Halloween for the first time, and an Egyptian princess who loved a little blue hippo.

The Warrior Queen – Jacques Falquet and Sonia St-Michel (1:30pm to 2:30pm)

Chitrangada the warrior-queen is not attractive enough for the hero Arjun. She transforms in order to seduce him, but can love thrive on deception? Based on the play written by Bengali Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore, and combining storytelling and Odissi dance this performance takes you to ancient India, in the times when Gods still walked the earth.

Stories to Wiggle With – Ruth Stewart-Verger (1:30pm to 2:30pm)

Join Ruth Stewart-Verger for stories for little ones aged 2-4.

String Stories – Ruth Stewart Verger (2:30pm to 3pm)

String Telling derives from string games that are part of cultures around the world. String figures from Hawaii, Canada’s far north, Europe, all find their way into the tales that Ruth Stewart-Verger literally weaves with string.

Baobab Dance and Drumming (12:30pm to 1:30pm)

Baobab Youth Performers brings together students from many schools in the Ottawa area to drum and dance the music of Ghana, West Africa. Baobab Youth will perform a set of music centred around Kpanlogo, fish harvesting music from the coastal area of Ghana.  Kpanlogo  is a recreational hand drumming piece of the Ga people.  Its rhythms are found throughout the world and are the roots of much of North America’s pop/rock music. For this reason it is very popular in Ghana and abroad. Audience participation will be encouraged!

Fabulous Friendship Tales – Kim Kilpatrick (3pm to 4pm)

Autobiographical stories to entertain and educate kids about what it is like to grow up with a disability. Kim uses a guide dog and white cane, and is totally blind. She has had her disability since birth, and weave stories with skill, humour, and love. How does Kim manage to get a whole batch of brownies made just for her? What happens when she tried to hatch a dragon? Come and find out!

Fantastic Animal Tales from Around the World – Michel Farant (3pm to 4pm)

Join Michel Farant for magical and fantastic tales involving Kings, Queens, princes and princesses, lumbermen folk tales, Inuit and Canadian native legends as well as stories from the lore of countries around the world. A sing-a-longs, accompanied by guitar, will round out his light-hearted session.

The Magic of Stories – You Can Do It Too! - Anne Nagy and Jan Hutslar (3pm to 4pm)

An interactive set of magical stories that will get kids into the action of telling.
