STOP, LOOK, AND LISTEN
Ottawa Storytellers tell tall tales of riots, murder and…Christmas?
On every second Thursday in the summer, the Bytown Museum is hosting a story series about the people and events that shaped Ottawa. Stories will include:
- The Murder of Thomas D'Arcy McGee
- The Shiner War
- The Stoney Monday Riots
- 2 Joseph Montferrand stories and some Joe Mufferaw tall tales
- Christmas in 1870
- Lamira Billings Meets a Bear
- Over the Hog's Back Falls in a Canoe (a Billings story)
- Fire at the Booth Lumberyard
Storytellers will start at 7p.m. sharp. This program is free and admission to the Museum is free on Thursday evenings.
- Thursday, July 7 - Ruthanne Edward and Gail Anglin (Joseph Montferrand, Shiners, Stoney Monday Riot)
- Thursday, July 21 - Ruth Stewart-Verger, Donna Stewart and Kim Kilpatrick (Lamira Billings, Hogs’ Back Falls)
- Thursday, August 4 - Ruthanne Edward and Kim Kilpatrick (D’Arcy McGee, Fire at Booth Lumberyard)
- Thursday, August 18 - Ruth Stewart Verger, Donna Stewart and Gail Anglin. (Christmas in 1870, Lt. Col. John By)
LOCATION
The Museum is located alongside the set of eight locks on the Rideau Canal between Parliament Hill and the Château Laurier hotel.
